Puffin Cam broadcasts live pictures from the small island of Burhou during the breeding season from April to July
Burhou Island is 1.5 km off the coast of the channel island of Alderney. Burhou is a paradise for seabirds as there are no rats or cats and very little human disturbance on the island.
Puffin Cam is a way to observe these beautiful birds, in their natural habitat, as they go about their daily lives.
Watch clips from 2010/11 of Puffins leaving and entering their burrows, rafting in groups just off shore and, bringing fish home for their growing chicks.
This project is in collaboration with The Wildlife Trusts and Alderney Wildlife Trust and has been made possible with support from The States of Alderney, South East Grid for Learning (SEGfL) and Sesys.

Goodbye Puffins

Although most of our Puffins have left the island, many are still rafting (sitting on the water) around the island. There are still a few stragglers still feeding chicks on the Island (Including the chick we managed to photograph as an egg earlier in the season) - but it won't be long before they are all out to sea. Blown away!

Last weekend was a blowy one! We were over on Burhou to do some monitoring work, after a lovely sunny day on Saturday the weather closed in overnight and Sunday was so wet and windy we were stuck in the hut!
