Homepage for the Kent Myst Project
Over 240 schools and 720 teachers across Kent are involved in the Kent Myst writing project "Emerging from the Myst". This new and exciting project has been inspired by the work of Tim Rylands, who uses a game called Myst III Exile as a context for exploring and enhancing children’s writing.

What is happening in Kent right now!
Over 740 Kent teachers have watch Tim Rylands either at the Kent Myst launch on 19th January 2009 or at the demo lessons and twilights held in the west and mid Kent Partnerships.
The Next Step for Schools
1. Assess a target group of 5 or 6 children from each class whose progress will be tracked throughout the project.
2. Register to use this Myst microsite. This will enable you to:
To register, click on the Register link at the bottom of this page.
Once registered you will receive a microsite log-in and password via email. This may take a few days due to the large number of schools expected to register.
At this moment in time, only Kent teachers may register.
3. Buy the software - Myst 3 Exile and Myst 4 Revelation
4. Explore the Game - Use a walkthrough to play the game.
5. Gather ideas by reading our 'Getting Started page' (registered users only) to find out how other teachers introduced Myst in their schools and also read our other support pages on the Microsite. You need to be logged in to see them.
6. Plan, but don't overly plan. In the words of Tim "It is really crucial to explore game environments in a structured, but not overly planned, way initially. e.g. to have an idea about what kind of things you can cover but not predetermine a route or how long you are going to spend in each location."
